Missouri S&T employees join us Nov. 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at St. Pat's Ballroom at the Havener Center.

UM Faculty & Staff Benefits will provide FREE flu shots to UM Choice Health Care members who bring their Coventry card. For those who are not enrolled in the UM Choice Health Care program, the cost will be $26.

The fair will focus on preventing diabetes and will have FREE screenings for ALL employees and their family members: blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index.

Worlds/Oceans of Fun in Kansas City and the St. Louis Science Center are offering discounted tickets to University of Missouri employees. The Worlds/Oceans of Fun discounts are only valid until the end of the season. There is no expiration date for the St. Louis Science Center discounts, however they may not be available for certain "blockbuster" or big name exhibits. An example would be the Body World exhibit.

The Worlds/Oceans of Fun discounts are available by clicking on the link below. You will need to type in the word "Prowler" in the Company ID field. To obtain the St. Louis Science Center voucher click on the link below and print.

Staff Council to mail new election ballots

Due to technical difficulties, two categories of election voting ballots for vacant Staff Council positions were incorrectly mailed. The red and blue election ballots should be considered void. All red and blue ballots received by Staff Council will be discarded, and staff members who received these ballots will be mailed the correct sheet.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you still have a red or blue ballot, please place in your office's recycling bin.

Take the professional development survey

Based on the results of the 2008 Staff Council survey, Staff Council has partnered with Human Resource Services/Affirmative Action to determine your thoughts about professional development. Please help us assess professional development needs by taking a few moments to complete the brief online questionnaire found here: www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB227TZ8NAFWR .

The results of this survey instrument will be used to a) measure the level of interest among staff for professional development, b) identify priority needs and c) develop recommendations for improving existing and expanding new professional develop opportunities for Missouri S&T staff.

The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, June 20.

Staff Excellence Awards nomination forms available

Do you know a Missouri S&T staff member who goes above and beyond? This is your chance to recognize these people.

Nomination forms for 2008 Staff Excellence Awards at Missouri S&T are now available. Nine outstanding Missouri S&T staff members will receive Staff Excellence Awards this year. The awards are intended to show appreciation for and recognition of staff contributions to the university. The awards will be given to staff members who have made significant contributions to the university through a combination of job performance, relationship with their associates, and dedication to Missouri S&T.

Students, faculty and staff can nominate an outstanding staff member. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 21. Nominations are welcomed and encouraged from everyone.

Staff Council to hold open forum May 14

UMR Staff Council invites campus community members to participate in an open forum from 9-10 a.m. Monday, May 14, in the Carver-Turner Room in the Havener Center on campus. Staff Council members, along with Chancellor John F. Carney III, will discuss the results of this year’s staff survey. Attendees will also get a sneak peek at this year’s Staff Day events and be eligible to win door prizes.
